Main Article Content
Abstract
The review considers the prevalence of e-cigarette use among university students using different studies. Since e-cigarettes are highly popular compared with traditional tobacco products, it is important to research their use among young adults in order to improve public health strategies. The review looks into e-cigarette use rates, factors that influence students to begin smoking them, and the effects of vaping on academic performance and other hazardous behaviours, including substance abuse and psychological issues.
Conclusion based on the findings, e-cigarette use is widespread among university students, and usage varies across differing age groups, genders, social and economic backgrounds. Generally, male student’svape more compared to female students; in addition, the younger the student, the higher the rate of attempting e-cigarettes. Further, the review underlines how social influences, such as peer pressure and marketing through social media, result in vaping among students. Many university students consider e-liquids to be much safer than cigarettes and, therefore have increased usage rates.
Given the above situation, the article pointed out that there is a need for specific public health interventions with regard to controlling the use of e-cigarettes among students in university. This is in terms of a tighter regulation over advertisement and education about the risks associated with vaping. Thus, approaches to lifestyle should be made healthier to the youth. The prevalence levels of use of e-cigarettes and various consequences for health among students are also coupled with the need for further research.
